Dead Girl's Diary

Amy Heidish - Writer

A native of Huntsville, Alabama, Heidish earned a BFA in Film Production at Florida State University. After moving to Los Angeles, she became a founding member of Playwrights 6, the only theatre company in Los Angeles managed by playwrights, and dedicated to developing, producing and promoting high quality works by Los Angeles dramatists.

Her first play, "The Honorary Picker Upper," was included in a showcase of one-acts entitled RE:LAX: STORIES FROM AN AIRPORT, selected as a Critics Pick from Backstage West, and garnered warm reviews from the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly. Amy produced the full-length play version of DEAD GIRLıS DIARY in spring 2002 at The Actors Lab in Hollywood, which landed a Backstage West 2002 Garland citation for Carol Shannon's performance as "Maddy."

Heidish has had one-act plays performed in the Playwrights 6 holiday showcases CHRISTMASTIME IS QUEER (2002), CHRISTMASTIME IS QUEER AGAIN (2003) and CHRISTMASTIME IS QUEER 3 - NAKED CHRISTMAS (2004). Another of her feature screenplays, ONE NIGHT, which is a teenage version of A MIDSUMMER NIGHTıS DREAM, has been optioned by producer Ilyssa Goodman (A CINDERELLA STORY starring Hilary Duff). Most recently, her play THE BIG EVER AFTER was a co-production between Playwrights 6 and ARK Theatre Company and was chosen as an LA Weekly Critic's Pick of the Week in March 2005.
